ImageThe USAFL joined in the Movember cause by growing mustaches and raising over $10,000 during the month formally called November. Worldwide, Movember raised nearly $63.5 million US dollars that will go towards cancer research.

Andy Vanica of the Denver Bulldogs and USAFL Vice-President West, individually raised more than $1,500 making him the highest sponsored USAFL Mo' Bro for 2010! Joshua Anfinson of the Seattle Grizzlies was a close second.

The Seattle Grizzlies took out the USAFL Mo' Team for 2010 with the highest donation tally, totaling more than $3,400! They were followed closely by the Denver Bulldogs on just over $2,700 and the Boston Demons on $2,200.

Vanica won an AFL Supporters pack for the team of his choice (guernsey, shorts, socks, scarf, beanie and a football) and the Seattle Grizzlies have scored themselves 5 Match and 5 Attack footballs all courtesy of the league's sponsor, Burley-Sekem.

Seattle's Anfinson is very proud of his clubs efforts but thinks they can do even better. "Philanthropy in general is important to the footy club and I think it’s important not only for the causes we support (which is obviously the most important aspect of fundraising) but to bring teammates and spouses together towards a common goal. Efforts like these can only strengthen a club.

"Although this year was a great effort for our first time supporting this cause, I think we should be able to double participation from the club next year which only stands to increase the money raised by the team."

The USAFL Network had a total of 11 teams and 87 participants, more than half of those participants raising in excess of $100 each. To view the full results go to: Movember/USAFL. Vanica hopes the USAFL can do even better next year. "We'd like 100 USAFL players growing Mo's and half of the USAFL teams participating."

All proceeds raised will go toward Prostate cancer research through the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. For more information visit Movember.com.
