On Saturday August 15, the Milwaukee Bombers (1-1) host the Minnesota Freeze (1-2) in the return leg of their 2009 home and home series. Game time is set for 2pm at Brown Deer Park (7835 N Green Bay Rd, Milwaukee WI). After game is at 8pm at AJ Bombers.
Milwaukee President, Andy Vanica, is looking forward to the game to show the turn around in the season as we head toward Nationals. "We have struggled to get numbers out this year due to injury, travel, the economy, and having players abroad. We lost 10 starters from last year but expect to gain a few of them back as they are playing over in Australia for the season. Preparation for the freeze game has been good with consistently higher numbers showing up for practice in the last few weeks. As far as this weekends game, we expect a hard, clean fought battle with Minnestoa. It is one of our most friendly games, but expect to play very hard against a well coached Jason Becker team. The Freeze always show up prepared and with a game plan. It's up to us to make sure they worry more about what we are doing as opposed to what they need to do execution wise."
Milwaukee are missing a couple of their key players, with Andy Vanica injured against Canada, Dan Sarbacker traveling with his sister's US Freedom team as an assistant coach and Bruce Beilfuss also on the tour as a supportive husband. However, they have two scholarship players from Australia, Jamie Anderson and Rob Humphries, who will give them some much needed experience.
Freeze Head Coach, Jason Backer, is looking to his young Revo players to lead the Freeze, particularly Zach Weaver and Danny Hansen. "It's a 12-hour round trip on a Saturday for most of the guys, which is much better than 19-hour one-way we did in an RV for Nashville. I understand Milwaukee is down a few key players in Vanica, Sarbacker and Beilfuss. Still, we'll have to find a way to contain the likes of Siegel, Anderson and Humphries. With a 1-2 record, a win would be nice, especially on the road. But it's more important to give some guys a run and try a few tactics in preparation for Nationals."
