ImageThe new kids on the block, the Houston Lonestars host the Baton Rouge Tigers to kick off the 2010 USFooty season. The game will take place on Saturday March 27 at George Bush Park. Start time is set for 2pm.

There will be a lot of firsts on Saturday. Baton Rouge will be coached by first year Head Coach Tyler Smith and they will blood a number of new players. "We're bringing a fairly raw squad to Houston. We're missing a number of key players in the forward lines, but we should be steady across the back and middle. I hear Houston is going to have a few gaps in their line-up as well, but who knows what Danny Holwerda's planning. Something devious, I'm sure."

Houston is looking at 2010 as a development year with a home and home series against Baton Rouge. Houston's Dan Holwerda is looking forward to completing this important step in developing the club. Holwerda is excited by a couple of prospects. "Kevin Waden has never played before, but is 6' 7" and has awesome skills for a guy that has been to maybe 10 training sessions. Another guy is Izzy Olmos, who weighs maybe 140 pounds, which means that he gets thrown around like a rag doll, but he is quick, a terrier and has a real nose for the ball. Now we just need too work on his delivery once he gets it."
