The No. 10 Dallas Magpies (2-0) headed to Baton Rouge to take on the Tigers (0-2). What began as a pleasant morning with the sun burning off the cloud cover by the high noon kick off, ended up being a very hot and humid afternoon. A light southerly breeze that favored the golf course end fairly consistently throughout the match. Dallas won the toss and elected to kick with the breeze to the golf course end. The contest was immediately an arm wrestle with neither ruckmen nor midfields able to win clean possesions out of the middle. A little inaccuracy from Dallas early kept it very close but the backlines did well on both sides in putting a lot of pressure on the forwards of both sides who found it hard to get an easy kick. A couple of late misses from contested marks to Muller of Baton Rouge could have put the home side up at the first change. As it was, Dallas was up 1.5 (11) to 0.4 (4). |

The No. 9 Atlanta Kookaburras (3-0) head to Sarasota FL to take on the Florida Redbacks (1-3) in the return leg of their 2008 home and home series on Saturday May 10 2008. In the first game of the 2008 USFooty season, Florida went to Atlanta where they were defeated handily. Florida’s young team stayed with the more experience Kookas until the last when Atlanta put on 6 goals to 1 and took game by 55 points. Atlanta’s Wayne Kraska will be hoping for another large haul to cement his place atop of the USFooty Goalkicking Table, although Atlanta’s Carl Garofalo and Warren Ballagh are not far behind. Florida will be looking to the some of that form that helped beat the 2007 National Champion Denver Bulldogs in the Faststream Florida Invitational. They will be counting on Revolution standout Dustin Jones, as well as C.J. Morton and Alex Mirakian to even the series. |

The Baton Rouge Tigers (0-2) are hosting the No. 10 Dallas Magpies in the return leg of their 2008 home and home series on Saturday May 10 2008. Baton Rouge will be looking for some redemption after being thumped by the 2-0 Magpies at the Crawfish Boil in Texas last month. In 2007, the Tigers showed that they were much better at home although in the end they were swept by the Magpies. The Magpies will be missing some of the stars of their first two wins including Steven Moore, Grant Campbell and Stuart Rackham. However, Steven Cassity will be back at full forward after a 4 goal haul against the Orange County Bombers. For the Tigers, Mickey Kleinhenz will be looking to show why he was selected into the Revolution squad for the International Cup. |
