Nashville crush Cincy (Ohio Valley) |

After one of the best road games in Roo history, the Nashville Kangaroos returned home to a new home field at Heartland Park in Donelson. The 100 degree heat and scant breeze created challenging conditions, and the extra space at Heartland Park favored an open style of play with plenty of running. With the return of Chris "Bagman" Moerman and former coach and Best and Fairest Bo Link, the Kangaroos had their deepest team in recent memory to face the Ohio Valley River Rats, who came off an impressive win against Columbus.
The first quarter was an exhibition of speed and precision by the Roos. The first ten minutes were a show of absolute teamwork, with full forward Damian "What's" Serong "With That" and Luke "Brawny" Stockdale kicking two goals each before the River Rats finally got it to their full forward. Stockdale's first goal was a spectacular event, with intense pressure from two River Rats forcing Stockdale to crash into the goal post as he kicked. The post was knocked out of the ground and snapped in two, leaving an odd look to the post arrangement at that end.
Nashville's Stockdale snaps a goal!.

Community TV's Robert calls the footy |
|
Written by Chris Adams

Bill Robert believes that USFooty has a home on community television and he is putting his mouth, his knowledge and his time where his mouth is. In his spare-time from his day job as operations manager for Wilmington Community Television (WCTV), Robert has created StateSideFootyTV.com to develop programming on USFooty and his hometown Boston Demons for WCTV and community television stations across the country. It is ambitious plan, but if his first show is anything to go by, Robert can put his words into actions.
StateSideFootyTV.com's first show and WCTV's first USFooty telecast, was the July 17 match between the (8) Nashville Kangaroos and the hometown Boston Demons. Robert produced, edited, directed and called the game. WCTV provided the equipment, volunteers did the camera work, and Robert's wife kept the stats.
According to Robert, "I was very nervous when I did that first game. Though I have been watching (and thoroughly enjoying) footy for decades, this
was the first time I was going to be describing the game to people with no TV calls or replays on which to fall back. Also,
hockey is a sport readily available in the States. Footy? Not nearly as much. For the past few years (at least since the
weekly one-hour AFL highlights show was pulled from FOX Sports Net) my footy watching has come mostly by way of
YouTube, and it's been in limited doses at best. I didn't have satellite TV, or any type of online subscription. This year I
made the most of ESPN's resurgent involvement in the AFL.
I also knew that I would be in the presence of people that grew up in Australia completely immersed in the game. I was
thinking a lot about the game in the days leading up to it, fearing I'd come off sounding like some dumb Yank who didn't
know what the hell he was talking about." Be first to comment this article I Quote this article on your site I Views: 255 |

(3) OC too strong for San Diego |

The OC Bombers traveled down the 5 freeway to take on the San Diego
Lions on Saturday August 7 in the first of two games these clubs play
each season.
The Bombers and the Lions are traditional rivals and these matches
are always hard fought battles. This one was no exception and it was
a great performance by both clubs who put on an entertaining game of
footy for the supporters.
San Diego were coming off a big loss on the road to Golden Gate and
were always going to come out hard in this match with something to
prove. They did just that and put plenty of pressure on the Bombers
in the first quarter, a term which displayed lots of open, running
football from both sides. The result was a high scoring quarter with 7
goals posted for the term, with the Bombers getting the best of it to
go into the first break 8 points up. It was a great quarter of footy
and a good advertisement for the game in Southern California.

(3) OC heads south to San Diego |

On Saturday August 7, the Number 3 Orange County Bombers (2-0) head south to take on their biggest rivals, the San Diego Lions (1-2). Game time is set for 2pm at Walker-Wangenheim School Park, San Diego CA.
OC is coming off a solid win against upstate rivals, the Golden Gate Roos, at home. "We knew GG would bring a strong team and we expected nothing less then a good contest. The GG game was an opportunity for us to try players in new roles and some were more successful than others. It was not one of our better games but the hit-out will make the group better. Since the GG game we have worked on fitness and we had a solid training session over the weekend, so I would expect that form would be carried onto the playing field this weekend," says OC Head Coach, John Fragomeni.
