New York Magpie flies in Florida

The No. 4 New York Magpies (5-1) travel to Baltimore to take on the No. 3 Baltmore Washington Eagles (5-0) on Saturday July 12 2008. The top of the table clash begins at 2pm at Bocek Field in Baltimore, with a reserves game between the two clubs starting at 12.45pm.

This is a big game for both clubs. New York will be looking to revenge their 1 point loss to the Eagles in Florida earlier in the year. While the BW Eagles are looking to keep their winning streak alive.

The result is likely to have an important impact on seeding for the Nationals and it will likely decide the winner of the 2008 Eastern Australian Football League Premiership.

According to BW Eagles Head Coach, Aaron Tyndall, "It is fantastic to have such a rivalry. It is great for both clubs, but they both will need to improve before they can beat the likes of San Diego and Denver. The excitement and energy level around the club has been fantastic. It should be a great game. New York brings a young and fit side with a number of quality players. In the ruck they have Andrew Bridges who will be a big test for our young rucks. New York also has quality mid-fielders, but I think we match up with them pretty well." Revos, Jay Levesque and RJ Wheelock, as well as the likes of Dwayne Marshall will be working to stop an excellent mid-field led by Jordon McIntyre.

New York Head Coach, Robert Oliver, is looking forward to a great contest. "We have great respect for the Eagles as a club and it goes beyond a great year in 2007. We have always had spirited contests over the journey and in my time great respect between the leaders of each club. This weekend will no different I am sure all players will be looking to give it their best shot on Saturday. The Magpies are a great road club and have an impressive record on the road. We have travelled all year with more than a full team, starting in Florida and hopefully taking two full teams to the Nationals in Colorado Springs. Part of being a great road club has been the chance to bond after the football, which is an important part of our great game."

"It should be a great day's football!"
