My wife says that these are the two weeks where I celebrate the Olympic ideal by sitting in front of the TV (and the Internet) watching Visa, McDonalds and Coke ads. Luckily, the 12 hour time-difference to Beijing meant I could tear myself away for some footy on Saturday afternoon. In the footy it was a weekend of tournaments with FootyPalooza in Minnesota and Seattle hosting two Canadian clubs in King County. In the MAAFL it was the last game of 2008 for St Louis - on the road against Ohio Valley in Cincinnati.

St Louis was able to eek out their first win in the last game of the season against Ohio Valley. The Blues had another dreadful day in front of goal, but were able to hold off a late-charging Ohio Valley team by 1 goal, or more precisely, 6 behinds.

Seattle was able to redeem its poor performance in Vancouver with two wins at home. Seattle now has 6 wins and with three games to go they still have a shot at taking the USFootyNews premiership.  They also have a chance to cement an invitation to Division 1 of the USFooty Nationals.  Vancouver beat the West Coast Saints to finish second in the tournament.

It was an up and down day for the Milwaukee Bombers at FootyPalooza.  The Bombers thrashed the hosts, the Minnesota Freeze, in the MAAFL Championship game.  The win took the Bombers to the top of the MAAFL table, a game ahead of Chicago and Nashville.  However, in their second game, the Bombers went down by 7 points to Kansas City.
